Welcome new players

We have some new players thinking of coming. Here are some of their email addresses. I have been sending them Dick’s notes and invitations.

“Savage, Melissa” ,
“Acton, Rad” ,
Dionne ,
“Lipps, Tomas” ,
Sandy Brent

We play this week at Lew’s home, 111 Calle Enlace, off General Sage
park on the street, and walk to the piste, starting at 9:30. I will warm petanque balls in the oven, and have croissant for after.

Friday afternoon

Great time, the weather was warm. sunny too. Patrice’s brother Mike picked up the game fast. Sunday was fun too. Great to see Carl back in the afternoons. I got a call from the Sandy we met in ABQ.

Great time in ABQ

Lew, John, and Mike went down to ABQ for a tournament, and made friends with a great group of new “Ami”s. It is a French speaking group of about 20. While I can’t remember all the names, Marco, Bruno and Luc were especially good players, and three guys all named Paul were gracious hosts, making us all feel welcome. Lets do it again soon.

Lew in Paris

Hi,

This is John Geer (Lew Geer’s son). Lew is on vacation in France right now and was able to join a few petanque games in the park. Below are the pictures from his escapades that he wanted me to share with you. It looks like he left out the one where he got in a fight because his opponent wanted to use a tiny cannon.

Best wishes,
JG

Sure is hot in the sun

We start at 9 am and it is cool, but in the sun it is hot. Between throws, we huddle in the shade. Lew is going to Paris and Normandy soon, and hopes to play with local clubs. Watch for photos. We flew the flags and had croissant and coffee.

Village tournament in France

This video shows how a club in a tiny village with around 500 inhabitants manages to organize a one day tournament with 84 teams. Actually they could have handled a lot more, but the weather forecast called for thunderstorms that day.

The parking lot next to the church, a chalk line marker and wooden beams. That’s it. Obviously, this is not the first time, and they have it down to a tee.

Also noteworthy: (at 1:06) the new French FFPJP membership cards that get scanned in a reader. An amazing mix of tradition and technology. And burgers (aka “steak américain”) for lunch!
Lempaut is in the Tarn department, SW of Castres. Thanks to Joël of La Boule Lempautoise.

Please consider a link on your site for our web URL and Petanque America.

If anyone from your group comes visiting to Santa Fe, please feel welcome to come and play with us. We are a social group, playing on relaxed courts, with good humor, wine and pastis.

We may have members visiting you in Paris some day as well.
