New Year, New Play
We have all waited for some warm weather. How about playing tomorrow (Sunday 4/4) at 10 am at the rail yard. I have some left over birthday cake from Whole Foods for after. Or perhaps some croissants.

We have some new players, but it is getting towards the end of the year. Days are shorter, and it takes a while for the day to warm up. Rad, Sandy and Melissa have come several times, and others seem interested. I am sure there will be pick up games on some warm afternoons.
Arsène Dupin and his artist friends had a couple of hours to kill last week between performances at the Texas Renaissance Festival. So they played 3 hours of pétanque and then showed off their juggling skills. Among othersClan Tynker and Flourish & Fool.
A shooting competition in 2000 between Claudy Weibel (in the blue shirt) and Philippe Quintais (considered one of the top 3 players in the world). This was a side event at a tournament, where players must perform intricate individual shots, at increasing distances. Call it “Ringers on your own”. Look at the slow motion replays.
We are settling into playing Sundays at 10 and Fridays at 11. Cold weather may end the season soon. It is still great fun. Rad Acton is a welcome new player, and others are showing up too.

The El Paso Club. Lew has played there and John Kemp and his wife came up here. It is on a Rim Road overlooking the city.
We have some new players thinking of coming. Here are some of their email addresses. I have been sending them Dick’s notes and invitations.
“Savage, Melissa”
“Acton, Rad”
Dionne
“Lipps, Tomas”
Sandy Brent
We play this week at Lew’s home, 111 Calle Enlace, off General Sage
park on the street, and walk to the piste, starting at 9:30. I will warm petanque balls in the oven, and have croissant for after.
